Uggs have been called the “most comfortable boot” by many. Ugg boots have incorporated design features that sport a slimmed down along with some styles including a laced look. The comfort and craftsmanship of this functional sheep skin fashion boot is fast becoming a popular choice.
You gotta love those Uggs when you consider how they defy fashion logic and leaped into the mainstream. They were popular with Australian swimmers and surfers in the 1960’s then migrating to California for the shakedown fashion cruise. They were so functional and comfortable that they became such a sensation that word of mouth spread the newcomers fame. Sheepskin, you see, is more comfortable than cowhide and it breathes and circulates the air so your boots don’t develop odors too quick.
The sheepskin fleece allows for air circulation that in the summer doesn’t heat up your feet and in winter provides insulation against the cold. It’s a comfortable boot for all seasons. That applies to their slippers as well. The Ugg tanned outer surface with wool inner lining are designed to wear without socks.
If you ever wondered where the word Ugg derived from, the common interpretation was “ugly boot.” The sheep shears in Australia who first crafted the boot thought they looked ugly. The name stuck.
Today there are a wider number of designs to choose from for men and women. There are the classic Ugg boot and newer designs in a variety of colors and even materials. Women’s Crochet designs got the nod by Oprah Winfrey “ Favorite Things” with their knitted upper part and come with a sheepskin sock liner. Uggs are available in various lengths and colors.
